Year 6 Residential - Day 2
What a thrilling Day 2 for our Year 6 adventurers! Each group tackled their own challenges, and their energy and teamwork shone throughout!
Group Tawny kicked off the day with canoeing that began with a minibus ride from the centre. Once on the water, they split into kayak teams and paddled their way back along the canal—complete with fun team games en route. Their afternoon was just as packed: archery, pond-dipping, and gathering around a campfire. They impressed everyone with their archery skills, competing with peers (and staff!) to top their high scores. There was plenty of excitement when several large newts were discovered during pond-dipping—much to their delight.
Group Buzzard demonstrated incredible stamina and determination on a 12 km hike to World’s End. Along the way, they explored ancient castle ruins and soaked in the stunning views of Llangollen’s natural beauty. They learned about rock formation and the layers within them. Their perseverance and determination ensured their success.
Group Peregrine embraced an adrenaline-filled morning of gorge walking, starting at the top and carefully making their way down through water and over the rocks. The group’s spirit, enthusiasm, and support for one another were outstanding. In the afternoon, they took on scrambling, meeting the challenge head-on with grit and enjoyment.
The day wrapped up with a night line activity, where all groups partnered up to navigate an obstacle course in the dark—relying on communication, trust, and teamwork to guide them through.
