Year 6 - Book Reviews - The Water Tower

Year 6 have been exploring the mysterious and atmospheric world of The Water Tower by Gary Crew, combining their English and art skills to produce some truly outstanding book reviews.

After reading and discussing the story, pupils created striking pieces of artwork using a colour wash technique, with the eerie water tower as the central focus. Their artwork beautifully captured the mood of the book and set the stage for the written element of their book reviews.

Each pupil then carefully copied up their book review, adding images of the book to create impressive book review displays that show a strong awareness of the reader. The reviews highlight their understanding of character, setting, and suspense which are all key themes in the story.

Currently, some of the Year 6 pupils are typing up their reviews to share on Amazon, giving their voices real purpose on a wider platform and also allows them to celebrate their work beyond the classroom.
